Dr. Aldo Napoli is researcher at the Ecole des Mines de Paris (France) since 2001. He has a PhD on Geography by the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France, 2001), in the field knowledge formalization for risk modelling, and a MSc in Geographical Information Analysis (1995). His research activity is mainly dedicated to risk modeling and simulation methodology, the design and the development of advanced software systems for environmental simulation, Spatial Decision Support System for risk and safety management, computer-aided methodology and computer-aided design. He was involved in several National and European R&D projects dealing with natural hazard, Geographical Information System and Remote sensing. (behavior modeling, risk assessment, decision support). He is also involved in several contracts with international Companies as insurance companies. Before joining the Ecole des Mines de Paris, he has been working as a research engineer on forest fire modeling at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (Dept. of Geography) and at the Joint Research Center (Ispra, Italy).
