Tom is a Senior Systems Scientist for Environment Canada. At EC, Tom provides technical and architectural leadership in support of EC's geospatial information holdings and management. Tom's professional background includes key involvement in the development and integration of geospatial web standards, systems and services for the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). Tom is also active in the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) community, and is lead developer of the OGC Web Map Context Documents Specification. Tom is a developer and commiter to the MapServer and Mapbuilder open source software projects. Tom holds a Bachelors degree in Geography from York University, GIS certification from Algonquin College, and Masters degree in Geography and Environmental Studies (thesis research in Geospatial Web Services / Infrastructure) from Carleton University. Tom is a Certified Geomatics Specialist (GIS/LIS) with the Canadian Institute of Geomatics.
