Short Biography

Jérôme CHEMITTE is an engineer of the Mines School of Alès, specialized in risk management. He is a third year PhD student at the French association named “Mission of the insurance companies for the knowledge and the prevention of natural risks” in collaboration with the “Pôle Cindyniques” of the Mines School of Paris. Its main research topics are in the field of risk management, insurance, natural hazards and GIS technologies. This document reports the first way towards the construction of a better knowledge on natural risks in the French insurance industry in order to prepare a new risk engineering to ensure its driving role in sustainable development.
